There's a cold, easy glow, dancing over our street. I could of chased you down, I could of held your love, But wouldn't you think me weak? Of All I should know, How the streets come and go, You chased the kaleidoscope dream. Stranger, baby, always keep me in your sweet memory. A biting cold, thrash and scold, and Drown me under our street. Perfect hips, perfect hips, she was Perfect lips, pieces of your heart, splattered on the cliff. We go home, watch a movie, Tell me can you feel the beat? Getting worse, getting worse, she was Letting those feeling loose, she was becoming a monster. She drew the line in the mind, She was me; holding on. Look at me, through the sea, I'm in love, hold me tight, There you got it. And did you find, that you like, A little piece, of cherry pie, Hot from the oven. The oven. And it was you who let the girl out (let the dog in), Let the girl out, don't you miss me the way I miss you. Sailor, sailor, sailor, I'm sending the birds to watch over you. What you see, how did we, use to love, hold me tight, There, you got it. And all you need, honestly, a little piece, of cherry pie, Hot from the oven. On your knees, face me, cherry pie, baby. FILM DESCRIPTION: Based on Peter Benchley's best-selling novel, Steven Spielberg's 1975 shark saga set the standard for the New Hollywood popcorn blockbuster while frightening millions of moviegoers out of the water. One early summer night on fictional Atlantic resort Amity Island, Chrissie decides to take a moonlight skinny dip while her friends party on the beach. Yanked suddenly below the ocean surface, she never returns. When pieces of her wash ashore, Police Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) suspects the worst, but Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), mindful of the lucrative tourist trade and the approaching July 4th holiday, refuses to put the island on a business-killing shark alert. After the shark dines on a few more victims, the Mayor orders the local fishermen to catch the culprit. Satisfied with the shark they find, the greedy Mayor reopens the beaches, despite the warning from visiting ichthyologist Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) that the attacks were probably caused by a far more formidable Great White. One more fatality later, Brody and Hooper join forces with flinty old salt Quint (Robert Shaw), the only local fisherman willing to take on a Great White--especially since the price is right. The three ride off on Quint's boat "The Orca," soon coming face to teeth with the enemy. A thermocline is a thin but distinct layer in a large body of fluid (e.g. water, such as an ocean or lake, or air, such as an atmosphere), in which temperature changes more rapidly with depth than it does in the layers above or below. In the ocean, the thermocline may be thought of as an invisible blanket which separates the upper mixed layer from the calm deep water below. Depending largely on season, latitude and turbulent mixing by wind, thermoclines may be a semi-permanent feature of the body of water in which they occur, or they may form temporarily in response to phenomena such as the radiative heating/cooling of surface water during the day/night. Factors that affect the depth and thickness of a thermocline include seasonal weather variations, latitude, and local environmental conditions, such as tides and currents.

NASA has released the first ever up-close, high-definition video of Kennedy Space Center's solid rocket booster (SRB) recovery ships retrieving SRB segments from the Atlantic Ocean following a space shuttle launch. The unprecedented video is from the launch of the most recent shuttle mission, STS-133, Discovery's final flight, on Feb. 24. Following each space shuttle launch, crew members of Liberty Star and Freedom Star pull the spent boosters out of the ocean and return them to Hangar AF at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Once they are processed, the boosters are transported to Utah, where they are refurbished and stored, if needed.

Want access to some cool lure color selection charts? Go to my website at https://makewoodenlures.com/lure-color-selection/ In part one of this 4 part series we looked at how water dims the light and reduces fishing lure color intensity. In this video we'll look at how it can actually change the colors that fish can see. This means that what fish eyes are capable of seeing becomes less important. Because they simply can't see something that is not there! It's as though fish are looking at your lures through a piece of blue cellophane that gets darker the deeper into the water they go. Try it for yourself- have a look at some lure colors through blue cellophane. Even though you might have full color vision, you can only see the colors that remain after the cellophane has filtered the others out. In clean, clear water the red wavelengths of sunlight are the first ones to be removed. And as you go deeper the oranges, yellows and greens disappear too. So my advice is always to stop thinking about what colors fish can see - and start thinking about what colors are present for them to see. I'm sure you'll agree that the deeper the water becomes the less important lure color selection becomes!

This is perhaps my favourite theme from the game NOT to have received the official piano collections treatment. I actually also recently requested that this piece get the piano duo treatment from Verdegrand and Zorsy, but it didn't get picked :/ Man, the bit in the game where this music plays, for those who remember, still sends chills down my spine. Wondering around the depths of the ocean in your submarine, and then spying a strange looking machine in some dark corner - and when you approach, it's like, WTF, FIGHT!!! EMERALD WEAPON!!! SOME SORT OF COUNTDOWN TIMER!!! and then, ONE HIT FROM HIM AND MY WHOLE PARTY IS DEAD!!! GAME OVER!!!??? WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?!?!?!?!? Ahhh, the memories :P I'm not really sure what can be done with this piece, in terms of filling it out to make it worthy of the piano collections treatment, but there was an excellent version of it done by the talented people at OCRemix, here is the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-570-QIO258 Please check out the rest of my 'Final Fantasy VII OST' playlist to hear more wonderful music from this game arranged for piano solo :) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8i22I_z8nviUL07Vw-7kUSeYX70pcJbb&feature=view_all On a different note, for those of you who like to read, I've written a novel which can now be found on Amazon Kindle. FILM DESCRIPTION: Mimi Leder (The Peacemaker) directed this science-fiction disaster drama about the possible extinction of human life after a comet is discovered headed toward Earth with the collision only one year away. Ambitious MSNBC reporter Jenny Lerner (Tea Leoni) stumbles onto the story, prompting a White House press conference. United States President Beck (Morgan Freeman) announces the government's solution: a team of astronauts will travel to the comet and destroy it. The team leader aboard the spaceship Messiah is Spurgeon Tanner (Robert Duvall), who was once the last man to walk on the moon. However, the mission fails, splitting off a chunk of the comet, now due to land in the Atlantic with the impact sending a 350-foot tidal wave flooding 650 miles inland, destroying New York and other cities. The larger part of the comet, hitting in Canada, will trigger an E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event), not unlike a "nuclear winter" as dust clouds block out the sun and bring life to an end. President Beck reveals Plan B: a cavernous underground retreat constructed to hold one million Americans, with most to be selected through a national lottery. Since teenage amateur astronomer Leo Biederman (Elijah Wood) discovered the comet, his family gets a pass to enter the cave, but his girlfriend Sarah (Leelee Sobieski) and her parents will be left behind. Meanwhile, still in space, Spurgeon Tanner devises a plan for a kamikaze-styled operation that could possibly save the Earth. Special visual effects by Scott Farrar and Industrial Light & Magic. SAVE OUR PLANET...Account from scientists calculates methane emissions from freshwater sediments. An international team of researchers for the first time have estimated the methane gas being emitted by fresh water areas such as lakes and rivers. The study, recently published in the journal Science, showed that these emissions reduce the net absorption of greenhouse gases by land ecosystems such as forests by at least 25%. According to lead author Professor David Baskvilken from Linköping University in Sweden, whereas small methane emissions from fresh water bodies occur continuously, abrupt larger emissions may also occur that are difficult to measure. Team member Dr. John Downing of Iowa State University in the USA stated, "The bottom line is that we have uncovered an important accounting error in the global carbon budget. Acre for acre, lakes, ponds, rivers and streams are many times more active in carbon processing than seas or land surfaces, so they need to be included." Meanwhile, numerous other surveys have found plumes of methane escaping from sea floor sediments beneath the Arctic Ocean and other underwater regions. Although cold temperatures and high pressure have kept the methane in a frozen state for centuries past, recent destabilization due to human-caused global warming could eventually trigger a widespread release of the potent greenhouse gas at a rate of 16,000 tons per year. Research oceanographer Dr. Tony Koslow from the University of California San Diego, USA explained. (Interview in English) Tony Koslow -- Research oceanographer - University of California San Diego, USA (M): If the sea temperatures increase sufficiently, that would lead to the release of these methane clathrates, these frozen methane in the deep sea. And once that process starts it would just snowball. VOICE: Oceanographers also forecast that such a release would generate too many methane-consuming microbes, creating an imbalance as they consume the water's dissolved oxygen and generate carbon dioxide. The resulting oxygen depletion and acidification of the oceans would disrupt ecosystems and form dead zones, which in turn would undermine a vital oxygen source for the entire planet. Dr. Koslow points to a major marine mass extinction event in the past. Tony Koslow (M): One of the real concerns is that about 55 million years ago, the best available evidence is that much of the methane that was trapped in the deep ocean was released very suddenly in geological terms, and this led to a huge warming. And it actually led to the extinction of much of the life in the oceans. When paleoecologists discovered this, only within about the last 10, 20 years it's really changed people's perspective on how climate change can happen; very, very rapidly and how it can happen through the release of this frozen methane. The key is that we really have to contain global climate change. VOICE: Our appreciation, international scientists for informing us of the potentially catastrophic impacts of unleashing underwater methane. May we act swiftly together to mitigate global warming so that the biosphere and planet may be preserved. During an international gathering with our Association members in February 2008, Supreme Master Ching Hai spoke of the release of methane and its link to global warming, urging for the simple way to halt it. Excerpt from Supreme Master Ching Hai's lecture International Gathering February 28, 2008 Supreme Master Ching Hai: You see, the gases are fuming from the ocean and from the land that's been deforested. It's fuming everywhere. It's just that at the moment, it's not so intense. But it'll be more and more intense if we don't do something. Everybody knows by now, from the UN Report that meat eating, animal raising it's one of the worst factors, or even the worst factor of global warming. And nobody talks about it. What is so difficult, to put down one piece of meat, and replace it with one piece of tofu. Which is exactly the same, better nutrition. Better for your health. More economized.

From Archive Collection Volume II, the second vault release from Anthony Phillips following Archive Collection Volume I in 1998. Compiled by Anthony Phillips and Jonathan Dann it is a 2 CD selection of previously unheard pieces and variations recorded between 1971-1988. It was released on May 10, 2004 on Blueprint Records (UK) and was re-issued in Japan on Arcangelo Records as a limited edition mini-vinyl in December 2007. According to the liner notes, Tregenna Afternoons is a piece Ant invented to teach original Genesis drummer Chris Stewart how to play guitar. The track Fantomas opening theme on CD2 features John Silver on drums. He was the second drummer for Genesis and the inspiration for the song Silver Song. Biography: Anthony Edwin "Ant" Phillips (b. 23 December 1951, Chiswick, west London) is an English multi instrumentalist, best known as a founding member of the band Genesis. He played guitar and sang backing vocals until leaving in 1970, following the recording of their second album, Trespass. He left due to suffering from stage fright, after being told by his doctor that the best thing would be to leave the band. He is known for his twelve string guitar work, and his influence can be heard throughout Genesis's early output. Genesis's first album after Phillips's departure, Nursery Cryme, featured two songs which were holdovers from the days when Phillips was in the band: "The Musical Box" (originally called F#) and "The Fountain Of Salmacis." "The Musical Box" especially remains a favourite of fans. After leaving Genesis, Phillips studied classical music (especially classical guitar) and made recordings in collaboration with Harry Williamson, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins, among others. He played the keyboards on the demos for Peter Gabriel in 1976. His first solo album, The Geese and the Ghost, was issued in 1977. Phillips released his second album in 1978, entitled Wise After the Event. This was followed the next year by Sides. Both of these albums were produced by Rupert Hine and were intended to reach a mainstream audience, though neither album was successful in that regard. In its initial release in the UK, Sides was accompanied by a more experimental album entitled Private Parts and Pieces; in the U.S. and Canada the two albums were issued separately. Private Parts and Pieces II: Back to the Pavilion followed the next year, and several further sequels were issued in the 1980s and 1990s. Phillips began writing material with Andrew Latimer of Camel in 1981, and was a featured performer on that band's album, The Single Factor (released in 1982). Phillips released a mainstream pop album entitled Invisible Men in 1983. He later claimed that this project went "horribly wrong" as a result of commercial pressures, and would subsequently eschew mainstream success in favour of more specialised material. Phillips remains involved in a variety of musical projects, including extensive soundtrack work in England often for the label Atmosphere part the Universal Music Group. In the mid-1990s, he released an album entitled The Living Room Concert, which featured solo acoustic versions of his earlier material. He also provided archival material for the first Genesis box set, Genesis Archive 1967-75, released in 1998.

Sea Turtles Have Color Vision! Prof. Mike Salmon, Department of Biology Sciences, Florida Atlantic University Morgan Young, a Masters degree student in Biology at Florida Atlantic University (Figure 1), won an Archie Carr Best Student Poster Award at the Annual Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology and Conservation, held this April in San Diego, California. Her research on marine turtle color vision was supported by The National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation. Her co-authors were Prof. Richard Forward (Duke University), and expert on vision and biological rhythms in marine animals, and her behavioral biologist advisor at FAU Prof. Mike Salmon. We know that marine turtles have good eyesight and use it to hunt for food and to detect and avoid their predators. That leads to an obvious question; Do marine turtles see and use colors to identify objects, or is their visual world one of different shades of grey, like a black and white movie? And, how do you get the turtles to answer these questions? Morgan used a two-stage process to obtain the answers. The first state, done with hatchlings, took advantage of an innate response used by the turtles to locate the sea from the nest; they crawl toward a brighter area using a response known as a phototaxis. Morgan used hundreds of hatchlings to determine the dimmest blue, green and yellow lights that attracted the hatchlings to each color. That enabled her to determine with certainty that the turtles could see each light, but not whether they saw each light as a color or as a shade of grey. The second state required training older turtles to swim toward one of a pair of colored lights, both brighter that the ones used to induce a hatchling phototaxis. (Figure 2). To complete this phase, she had to train the turtles to associate one color with food reward (a piece of raw shrimp) and ignore the other (unrewarded) color. Over several weeks, she managed to train one turtle to distinguish between a blue and green, a second between a green and yellow, and a third turtle between a yellow and blue light. But that result still left unresolved how the turtles made the discrimination. Was it by seeing a spectrum of different colors or by seeing a spectrum of brightness on a white through grey to black scale? In the final set of experiments, Morgan ran many trials with each trained turtle while varying the brightness of the pairs of colored lights relative to one another during each trial. If the turtles always swam toward the brighter (or dimmer) light, regardless of its color, then the turtles were color-blind. However, if the turtles always swam toward the same colored light, regardless of its brightness, then the turtles had color vision. All three turtles consistently chose the right color no matter what its brightness, a convincing demonstration of color vision! Well done, Morgan!

The Beaufort Ensemble performs Sea Dreams by Derek Bourgeois. Performed in the Adrian Boult Hall at the Birmingham Conservatoire as part of the Distant Lands concert. Conducted by Alexander Webb. Programme Notes - Sea Dreams was originally a commission, in 2007, from an American University who wanted me to write a piece in memory of my first wife, Jean, who died in 2006. I set about writing the music and quickly completed the score early in 2008, but, unfortunately, because of the sudden collapse in the worldwide financial markets the commission itself fell through. The music draws on three of the pieces that I had written for Jean in the early days before we were married, namely two violin sonatas (she was a violinist) and the 'Serenade' Opus 22 one of my most popular pieces. However the bulk of the music is new, and the quotes from these early pieces are subtle and merely passing references, not at all like the originals. After an introduction, which is not heard again until the end of the piece, the music becomes a rondo allegro, and gradually builds to a big climax. At the very end there is an oblique reference to the Liebestod of Wagner's Tristan and Isolde.

Relaxing the world one video at a time. Submit your video to be featured on Scenic Videos here http://www.scenicvideos.net Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ScenicVideos Relaxing Music Therapy For Stress Relief Relaxing music therapy is a very potent phenomenon. Sounds can soothe you, fire your imagination, bring you to the heights of ecstasy or bring you down to the depths of your soul. Music is known to relax and to help in stress relief. In the right manner, music can bring lightness into a serious situation. Relaxing music therapy can heal, soothe and bring calm tot an agitated mind. Defining "relaxing music" seems a matter of personal choice. Some people find the serene sounds of the waterfall and chirping birds relaxing while others relax with their favorite hard rock. How Does It Work? The therapeutic effect of relaxing sounds seems to have a scientific definition of its own. When the human brain is relaxed it produces more alpha brain waves. When a person is stressed out, his brain produces more beta and theta waves. Beta and theta waves are faster changing brain waves than alpha waves. Within the fight-or-flee logic of a sudden stressful situation, the human brain processes seem to speed up to act faster. This can be helpful in short, specific moments, but it is counter productive when it becomes a chronically state of being. A relaxing tune can help with its sounds typically rich in frequencies that are similar to our alpha type brain waves. The mind is always open to suggestions and thus when a person is agitated or tensed, relaxing sounds, rich in alpha like frequencies, can actually bring brain frequencies down from theta to beta to eventually alpha brain waves, changing the overall mood of the listener during this process. It's a scientific fact: A relaxing melody can help a person to get at ease. When a person listens to a piece of music that he finds relaxing, he can focus on that, forgetting his agitation and tension. His/her breathing slows down a well as the heart rate and blood pressure. like Scenic Videos on FaceBook http://www.apps.facebook.com/scenicvideos/ http://www.facebook.com/scenicvideos/ Song title: A Good Heart Album: Unconditional Artist: Marc Enfroy http://www.MarcEnfroy.com Video content submitted by http://www.youtube.com/user/dhuting

This is a concert that premieres a piece called Sea Songs written the William Ferris Chorale and Jazz String Quintet. It was performed March 19th 2011 at Madonna de La Stata Chapel at Loyola University in Chicago. It is scored for 24 voices (SATB), string quartet and soprano saxophone. It is 45 min long with multiple movements setting text from Emily Dickinson, E.E. Cummings and Robert Creeley, all based on a water theme. Sea Songs is essentially four main movements: Languid Fingers, Wild Nights Water's Music and Ebb & Flow. There are also four shorter movements, Sea Shells No.1-4, each a variation on the same song, set to the familiar tongue twister "She Sells Sea Shells by the Sea Shore". Each of these short movements serves as a recurring moment of reflection, a familiar place of rest.
